2018 already?!?! Where has the year gone!
It’s been another year for the books. Another year full of new places, new adventures, and new changes. As we look towards 2018 and a new year, we know it won’t be as full as the last. Since Will can’t leave the country until there is a decision made on his visa (which could take as long as 14 months), we’re a little limited in where we can go. So, 2018 will be a year of small adventures and showing Will the country I come from; a role reversal if you will.
We’re gunna call 2018 our Gap Year from the road. Most people take Gap Years from life/school/work, we’re taking a Gap Year from our travels. We’ve got big, big plans for 2019 so this year will be our year to work towards something we’ve been dreaming up since Australia.
But, while we look towards a year with a bit less adventure in it, we can’t help but reminisce of this past year and all the amazing things we got up to. We checked some major things off our Bucket List, friends got married and we moved countries (again).
Here are our top highlights of 2017:
GREECE
Going to Greece was on the top of our list of places to get to while we backpacked Europe. Not only did we get there, but we spent a month travelling around it, and is hands down one of our all time favourite countries.
OUR BEST FRIENDS WEDDING
Watching these two beautiful humans tie the knot was definitely one of the biggest highlights of our time in England. One of the toughest things about travelling and living abroad so much is being way from friends and family, especially when your friends have turned into your family. So to be able to spend the year with our favourite people meant a lot to us.
BACKPACKING EUROPE
Our big trip of 2017, backpacking Europe, was a huge Bucket List item or ours. We spent 3 months backpacking through 11 different countries. It had been a trip we’d been planning for ages and something I had been dreaming of for years.
ST. PADDY’S DAY IN IRELAND
This is something that has been on my Bucket List since I was a teenager! And this year I got to check it off. We spent 4 days in Dublin with Contiki celebrating St. Paddy’s Day and it was SO much fun! There was no way we were missing this opportunity while living in England!
ICELAND
For Christmas last year, Will surprised me with a trip to Iceland, a place we’ve talked about visiting for ages. It was only a short weekend trip; a teaser trip of sorts, because we only spent two full days there but it was amazing! We definitely need to go back and for much longer!
SPENT THE YEAR CLOSE TO FRIENDS/FAMILY
One of the best parts about spending the past year in England was being close to friends and family, especially when our friends are the best family we’ll ever have. It’s also what made it so hard to move again. Being close to them meant so much for us this year.
We had an amazing year, one of the best for sure and we can’t wait to see what 2018 has in store. Regardless of how big or small the adventures will be.
Stick around to see what we get up to 😉
